Back to School

It is that wonderful time when everyone goes back to school. Many little girls happily go shopping with moms and grandma. They buy cute dresses and new shoes and on those first few days of school, they glow with a lovliness found only in children's fiction.
But there are some little girls that aren't able to go shopping. They come to school to learn. What they learn aside from their studies, is that they aren't quite like the other girls. They may be wearing clothing that has been handed down, again and again. They may not own a dress. A dress is often a luxury if a girl can wear her brother's old jeans.
Help us help them. Every little girl deserves a new dress. Every little girl needs to know that inspite of her situation or her family's situation, she is special, she is loved, she is valued.
Please nominate a girl to us......we long to give dresses, but we need you to tell us who.
If you care to donate fabric or shipping, please conact us.
Thanks and keep those nominations coming!

So Loved by God.....

Our dear Katie, our four year old Frog Princess passed away to Heaven this past Sunday, at her home in Clovis. She was surrounded by her family and their love.
We met Katie's family at Trade Days where we were able to be Dress Angels and provide Katie with the dress of her dreams.
We cannot know why Katie had such a short life. Our only thought is that she is so loved by God, He couldn't bear another moment without her. So, little Beloved, we will miss you and love you always.
To your family, may they know peace and have faith that you have a cherished spot in Heaven.

Found this from one of our donators...this is who we are!

There is the quote, "Be the Change you want to see in the world." A profound statement, but how do you act on it? How do you make the changes, one step at a time?
Jori and I were at the Curry County Trade Days. We had our booth up and were talking to people. We have a knack for getting people to open up. A grandmother comes in and talks to us a bit and mentions that her granddaughter, Katie (4), is dying. She has terminal cancer, a very rare form of it. There is no hope. We are both brought to tears and said we would pray for Katie and the family. Her grnadmother then went and looked at our clothes. She spotted our Frog Princess dress and started to cry. Katie calls herself "Princess Froggie". They loved the dress, but looked at the price and couldn't do it that day.
Now that dress was complex and I loved it, but no matter how many craft fairs we went to, no matter how many people professed to loving it, it never ever sold or came close. There must have been a reason.
Jori and I share a brain and it made easier to make the split second decision. We pulled the dress from the hanger and bagged it and told them to take it. They all started crying. We started crying. We told them that they should give it to Katie and tell her she is loved. Katie's kidney's no longer function and she is on a constant morphine drip for the pain. She is in and out of conscience, but her grandmother thought this would make her happy. We can't be sure, but there is a chance that this is the last dress she will wear, this side of heaven.
It was an incredible moment. We reached out and touched a stranger and changed their life. We made the world better, but giving on little dress. It felt so good.
Katie, you are a lovely little Princess Froggie. Go forth and be unafraid and out of pain.
God Bless you.

Dress AHOY!!

We were blessed again to gift a dress. This little girl comes from a family that has a rough year. Late last year a sibling passed suddenly and this family was devastated. The community has rallied with support, so we did too.

S----- receieved her dress. And it was so loved one of her nominators noticed she had it on at church the following Sunday. We are told it fit her perfectly. So thank you to the nominators, thank you to our boutiquers who donated the fabric...and as always...thanks be to God.

God Bless

just in time....

We were able to gift a dress to young A---- just before Easter. And as it turns out, what good timing! Little A---- turned up very sick. The dress surely cheered her up and we are praying for her speedy recovery. The nominator was happy to deliver the dress and said that she loves dresses so much and this will make her holiday very very joyous! Thanks to the generous boutiquers who donated the material for this wonderful gift. God Bless.

Ready, Set, GO!

We are set to gift our first dress. This is very exciting! This dress is going to a child that was nominated by her pre-school teacher. Her name needs to remain confidential, so we will refer to her as A----. Tomorrow this dress is what A---- will find tucked into her back pack. We enlisted the teacher as an honorary Angel and she will give us the highlights of A----'s reaction! Remember, Angels are always watching!

Forgot one little thing...

In the last blog, I forgot one little thing! Please email us with information on a girl in need. We ask that this be a child whose family is in need, a family where a new dress just couldn't be in the budget. We will get all important information via email. The information is never ever ever sold or disclosed to a third party. We will mention a nominator only at the nominator's request. We, ourselves, prefer to work like Cinderella's little mice and birds, behind the scene! We are asking that if we receive a nomination where a dress must be shipped, that the nominator donate three dollars to cover shipping costs. Currently our fabrics are donated and so is the time. It is a labor of love!

Welcome

Welcome to The Dress Angels
We are a new group, with a mission to bring sweet handmade dresses to little girls that otherwise wouldn't have one.
We have noticed within our community, and others near us, that there are little girls that, because of their family circumstances, mostly wear boy hand-me-downs. These are sweet little girls and they rarely if ever have dresses. We have noticed that when they do wear dresses, the dresses are very care worn.
We believe that there is a princess in every girl. We believe that for most little girls, getting a new dress is an incredible thing. It is something that makes a girl feel cherished.
So we've decided to do something about it. One dress at a time.
Right now it is a small circle of people, but we hope to grow. If you have funds you would like to donate for the purchase of fabrics or for shipping costs, or if you have fabric or notions to donate, please email us:
thedressangels@hotmail.com
Thanks for taking the time to read this. We hope to post pictures of our dresses here in the future.
